Overview

Why Electrolysis?

For those seeking complete and permanent hair removal on any area of the face or body, regardless of hair colour or skin tone, electrolysis remains the only medically recognised method of permanent hair removal.

Used successfully for over 140 years, electrolysis works by treating each individual follicle with a fine sterile probe and carefully controlled current to permanently disable the cells responsible for future hair growth.

This makes it a safe, precise and highly effective option for clients who want lasting results.

Our Technology

We use advanced Apilus electrolysis systems, including the flagship Apilus xCell Pro, designed to maximise comfort, precision and treatment efficiency.

Its intelligent settings allow us to tailor treatment to the hair type, skin response and area being treated, helping deliver excellent results while keeping skin disruption to a minimum.

Suitable Treatment Areas

Electrolysis can be used on most face and body areas, including:

  • Upper lip
  • Chin
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Brows
  • Underarms
  • Abdomen
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Intimate areas
  • Fingers & toes
  • Nipples

Electrolysis Treatment Options:

Types of Electrolysis

Types of Electrolysis

There are three traditional methods of electrolysis:

Thermolysis
Uses heat energy to destroy the follicle quickly and efficiently.

Galvanic
Uses a gentle chemical reaction within the follicle to permanently disable growth cells.

Blend
Combines galvanic and thermolysis, often useful for stubborn or distorted hairs.

Advanced Apilus Treatment Modes

We use professional Apilus electrolysis systems, which build on traditional methods with intelligent modern treatment modes designed for speed, comfort and results.

PicoFlash
Ultra-fast thermolysis ideal for precise treatment with minimal heat spread.

Synchro
Excellent for deep-rooted, coarse or challenging hairs.

SynchroBlend
Useful for distorted anagen hairs and stronger regrowth.

EvoluBlend
Comfort-focused blend treatment combining galvanic and thermolysis.

MeloFlash
Ideal for strong, deep or dehydrated hairs.

MultiPlex
A combination method designed for difficult or slightly misshapen follicles.

Why this matters

Different hairs need different approaches.

Fine upper lip hair may need a different modality than deep chin hair, hormonal growth, or post-laser regrowth. Our experience allows us to select the most effective treatment style for each area.

Pre Electrolysis Treatment

Before Your Appointment

Before treatment, you’ll be asked to complete a confidential consultation and medical history form so we can ensure electrolysis is safe, suitable and tailored to your individual needs.

At your appointment, your practitioner will assess:

  • Hair type and growth pattern
  • Skin response and sensitivity
  • Previous hair removal methods
  • Relevant medical considerations
  • Hydration and skin condition
  • The most suitable treatment method for the area being treated

Your settings and treatment notes are securely recorded, allowing future appointments to remain personalised, consistent and efficient.

Your Treatment Team

Treatments are carried out by experienced electrologists within our team, led by Jennifer Turner, a Level 5 Advanced Electrolysis Practitioner who qualified in 2008.

Jen has spent nearly two decades helping clients achieve permanent hair removal and is known for her honest advice, precision work and results-focused approach.

Our team uses professional Apilus electrolysis systems, allowing treatments to be tailored to different hair types, skin responses and treatment areas for optimum comfort and efficiency.

We welcome questions and believe that understanding the process helps clients feel confident and achieve the best possible results.

Important Medical Information

Electrolysis can often still be carried out during pregnancy or when certain medical devices are fitted, however treatment methods and settings may need to be adjusted.

Suitability will depend on your individual circumstances, medical history, the area being treated and the type of electrolysis method used.

Certain medical conditions, active skin infections, medications or implanted devices may require modifications, postponement, or medical clearance before treatment.

If you are unsure, please contact us before booking. We are always happy to advise in confidence.

A full consultation will always take place before treatment begins.

Post Electrolysis Treatment

After Your Electrolysis Treatment

One of the first signs that your treatment is progressing well is that regrowth often becomes softer, finer and lighter over time. Many clients notice positive changes throughout their course of treatment, so improvement is usually seen well before the final stages.

Consistency is important, as electrolysis works most effectively when appointments are kept regular and treatment plans are followed.

Immediately after treatment, we will apply a soothing aftercare product to help calm and protect the skin. We also stock recommended aftercare products in salon should you wish to continue care at home.

Mild redness, warmth or slight sensitivity can be normal after treatment and usually settles quickly.

Important Between Appointments

Some regrowth between sessions is normal, as not all hairs are active at the same time.

To protect your results:

  • Do not tweeze, wax or thread between treatments
  • Trimming or shaving is usually acceptable if needed
  • Keep appointments regular where possible
  • Contact us if you feel your sessions need adjusting closer together

Regular treatment gives the best progress.

Aftercare Advice (First 48 Hours)

For the first 48 hours after treatment, we recommend:

  • Avoid heavy make-up on the treated area where possible
  • Avoid perfumed or harsh skincare products
  • Avoid sunbeds, sunbathing and excessive UV exposure
  • Avoid touching, scratching or picking the area
  • Avoid swimming pools, saunas and steam rooms
  • Avoid excessive heat treatments to the area
  • Keep the skin clean and hands clean before applying products
  • Apply recommended soothing aftercare as advised
  • Use SPF if the area may be exposed to daylight

Ongoing Results

Electrolysis is a process rather than a one-off treatment. With regular appointments and good aftercare, hair growth progressively reduces until permanent results are achieved.

FAQs

Electrolysis works by treating each individual hair follicle using a very fine sterile probe inserted into the natural opening of the follicle. A carefully controlled current is then applied to disable the cells responsible for future hair growth.

There are three traditional methods of electrolysis:

  • Thermolysis – uses heat energy
  • Galvanic – uses a gentle chemical action within the follicle
  • Blend – combines both methods

Modern systems such as Apilus allow treatment to be highly precise, efficient and tailored to different hair types and treatment areas.

Because hair grows in cycles, not every hair is active at the same time. This means multiple sessions are needed to progressively treat hairs as they become available.

In many cases, electrolysis may still be possible during pregnancy, however treatment plans may need to be adapted depending on the stage of pregnancy, treatment area and method used.

As a precaution, we generally recommend avoiding treatment during the first trimester, when many clients prefer to minimise non-essential treatments.

For comfort and caution, abdominal and breast areas are usually avoided during pregnancy.

If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or unsure, please contact us before booking so we can advise individually and discuss whether postponing treatment may be the best option.

Electrolysis is safe for many people, but some medical conditions, medications or skin issues may mean treatment needs to be adapted, delayed or approved by your GP or consultant.

Examples may include:

  • Pacemakers or implanted medical devices
  • Certain heart conditions
  • Epilepsy or seizure disorders
  • Diabetes
  • Current cancer treatment or recent treatment history
  • Blood clotting disorders or anticoagulant medication
  • Severe anxiety or stress conditions
  • Hormonal or endocrine disorders
  • Reduced skin sensation in the area
  • Keloid scarring tendency
  • Certain prescription medications

If you are unsure, please contact us confidentially before booking.

Treatment may need to be postponed if the area has:

  • Sunburn
  • Cuts, abrasions or open wounds
  • Active eczema or dermatitis flare-up
  • Unidentified skin changes
  • Bruising or swelling
  • Recent scar tissue
  • Active acne irritation
  • Local infection

Once the skin has settled, treatment can usually resume.

Often yes, however your safety comes first.

If hair is growing from a mole, we may request confirmation from your GP, dermatologist, or an eConsult assessment confirming the mole has been checked and there are no concerns before treatment begins.

In many cases, this can be arranged easily through your GP surgery’s online eConsult system.

Once the mole has been medically assessed as benign and suitable, treatment can often proceed safely.

If a mole has changed in shape, colour, size, becomes itchy, bleeds, or looks unusual, it should always be medically reviewed first.

We are only able to treat clients aged 16 and over, in line with our insurance policy. Clients aged 16 or 17 may require parent or guardian consent before treatment, depending on age, treatment area and individual circumstances. If you are unsure, please contact us before booking and we’ll be happy to advise.

Usually yes, but it is always best to let us know in advance.

We may recommend adjusting treatment, requesting medical clearance, or arranging a consultation first.

When in doubt, simply contact us, we are happy to help in confidence.
